Homeless

Back to main page; Problems of Fresno, California

Being homeless in Fresno California is the worst place to be homeless in the nation. Because of the Fresno County & City governments lack of understanding, there are and will be in the future many hungry, desparete, unlawful, unruly, unhealthy, and homeless people living in Fresno.

Here is what the government can do:

Place restrictions on Alcohol supplies.

Alcohol is a leading factor of issues with many homeless.  Those people who are addicted to alcohol should have a program available to them immediatly closeby & free of charge. Reducing the supply of alcohol will no doubt increase tensions with the homeless. Tens of people will need medical assistance in addition to a treatment program.

Procurement of a large warehouse

A temporary place of shelter while other city programs work on building low-income housing. There are many bank-owned abandon buildings near downtown. A place would be set up with makeshift bathrooms (not portable commodes and at least ten toilets) and shower areas. Also an outdoor area to cook food using a common fire.

 A Free Food Program

The Central Valley is known for its abundance of locally grown food. A percentage of every crop grown in Fresno County & City should be available to the homeless.

A Mental Heath treatment program

The City & County of Fresno must have a treatment program within easy reach of any homeless person. The treatment program should be as important as providing water and sewer service to tax-paying residents.
