Relentless Jones was my primary band from 1990 until 1996.
We started out as a jam band in 1989 under various names, playing at parties &
jamming. In 1990, George(bass) & I decided to move into new musical styles and write
our own material, and of course, gig like crazy and GET SIGNED! Well we never got signed
and our music became progressively crazier and more on the outside edge.We continued on
that course until 1994 and after a brief hiatus, started gigging again, but now playing
mostly funk & blues, which club owners could relate to, as opposed to some of our
composititons.,,,..When RJ composed a piece of music, various elements of our common
musical exeriences would always pop up. They tended to be improvisational in nature.We
wrote pieces in which, a section of pure improv, and often free jazz would be sandwiched
between definite structured parts. We also got "out there" quite a bit. The
outside thing was another area of musical common ground between George, Paul & I. We
also got into intensity and hardcore styles of music. This all created a fairly unique
sound which was difficult to present live, but we did.
