Political Agenda and Progress Report: Jim Morrissey (R), 69th Assembly District


Political Agenda: Jim Morrissey first became involved with politics in 1978, where he was a proponent of Prop. 13; a proposition to cut property taxes. He served on the Republican Central Committee of Orange County and was the founder of the Republican Small Business Association within the Committee.

His 1997-98 agenda focuses on the loss of jobs in the manufacturing sector. He has authored bills to reform worker's compensation, to streamline the regulatory process, and to cut sales taxes. Morrissey chaired the Consumer protection, Governmental Efficiency, and Economic Development Committee in 1996. His 1996 law stiffens the sentences for persons committing crimes against Senior Citizens.
