Jim Morrissey (R) Assembly District 69
Personal Background: Jim Morrissey was born on May 10, 1930, in New Rochelle, New York.
Mr. Morrissey joined the Air Force in 1947 where he served for three years. He later joined the Army Reserve.
He was first elected into office in 1994 for the 69th district of the California Assembly. Jim has a wife and six children. Mr. Morrissey has thirteen grandchildren.
Mr. Morrissey's first occupation was tool and die manufacturing. Later, he moved into management where he became the president of Superior Jig, Inc., a producer of precision aerospace parts.
Jim Morrissey first became active in politics in 1978. In this year, he pushed for the passage of Prop 13, a proposition that cut property taxes. Mr. Morrissey has served on the executive board of the Republican Central Committee of Orange County. He was also a supporter of the Prop. 140 term limits initiative.

Term Limits: Under the limits of Prop. 140, Mr Morrissey's term will end in 2000.
Legislative Experience: In Jim Morrissey's inaugural term, he formed an unofficial new group called the Manufacturer's Caucus where he served as the chair. Mr. Morrissey also served as chair of the Consumer Protection, Governmental Efficiency, and Economic Development Committee in 1996.
Futrure Prospects: At this time, Mr. Morrissey has no plans to run for re-election.
