Sunny Bono Copyright Term Extension Act
- copyright protection lasts from 70 years following the death of author (was 50)
- copyright protection lasts 95 years from publication in the cause of anonymous works and works made for hire (was 75)
- copyright protection lasts 95 years from publication for works originally secured under the 1909 Act (was 75 years)
copyright in a work created on or after January 1, 1978
- subsits from its creation and endures for a term of life of the author plus 70 years after author's death
- for joint works life of the last surviving author plus 70 years after last surviving author's death
- for anonymous, pseudoanonymous, or works made for hire copyright protection lasts for a term of 95 years from the year of first publication, or a term of 120 years from the year of first creation whichever expires first
duration: works created but not published or copyrighted before January 1, 1978
- term shall not expire before December 31, 2002
- if the work is published before December 31, 2002, the term shall not expire before December 31, 2047
