ALL - while not really a vacation, but worth mentioning, the entire family flew to Portland, Oregon in August 1999 to attend the wedding of cousin and niece, Joan Colby. Although a nice wedding, in all the trip was uneventful.

ALL - the annual trek to Greeley Hill was again made in July 1999. Although the whole family made it up, demanding schedules caused some family members to enjoy shorter vacations than others. Trips to Yosemite, boating on the lake, seeing a show in Sonora, and visiting with friends was the standard fare once again.

JOHN and DAVID - in June/July 1999 the East Coast was the destination for these two. It began with plans to accompany the Cal Poly Solar Car Club in the Sunrayce which is a race from Washington DC to Orlando, Florida. When the team did not qualify for the race, vacation plans were quickly formulated. Over a period of 16 days Washington DC, Virgina Beach, Charlotte, Atlanta, Talahassee, Old Town, Tampa, St. Petersburg, Venice, Naples, Everglades, Key West, Key Largo,Fort Lauderdale, and Miami were toured.

MARIANE, LANCE, and ELIZABETH - June 1999 brough the usual trip to Lake Tahoe. This year was somewhat different than the past since, for the first time, David and John were unable to attend. Nonetheless, the trip was filled with excitement which included shopping in South Lake Tahoe and Tahoe City, hiking behind Emerald Bay, exploring unknown lakes, and of course sitting by on the beach.

MARIANNE and LANCE - during April 1999 a quick week-long trip was made to Canada. Most of the vacation took place in Vancouver although side trips were made to Whistler and Victoria. The trip provided a much needed respite from the harsh Santa Rosa winter.

ALL - enjoyed a quiet Christmas 1998 at the house of dear friends Ed and Pete. Lance mined the hills for gold while David and John sped down "expert only" slopes at Dodge Ridge ski area. Elizabeth spent her afternoon navigating through the crowds on the bunny slopes. Marianne spent her time wandering through the pines and enjoying the serenity of the snow covered hills.

ELIZABETH - returned in December 1998 after spending three and a half months studying in Salamonca, Spain. While there she made friends with many of the local citizens, stayed with a native family, learned a lot, and also had time to travel to Paris and other surrounding areas.

MARIANNE and LANCE - enjoyed a one month stay during October 1998 in the "South of France" region. They toured many small towns and enjoyed dining on authentic French food and wine. They also traveled to Spain to visit with Elizabeth and meet her friends and "family."

JOHN and DAVID - spent five glorious weeks country hopping in Europe during July and August 1998. They toured Greece, Italy, France, Austria, Switzerland, Slovenia, Czech Republic, and Germany. Many friends were made during sleepless nights on the train, bouncy boat rides, and in cozy hostels.
