Hoochi-Doo Productions, in beautiful Sonoma, brings back the Little Sisters of Hoboken by popular demand to perform another rip-roaring musical to raise money for a worthy cause. This time the infamous cook Sister Julia, “child of God,” accidentally creates a last supper that kills off about 30 nuns from botulism. The sisters had enough money to bury all but four of the nuns. The remaining four are being kept in their freezer, but they need to raise the money quickly before the board of health finds out about the nunsicles.

The result is another great musical comedy fundraiser that will keep you laughing and singing for days. And just to add a new twist of humor, writer Dan Goggin has men playing the nun’s parts in this show he titled Nunsense A-Men!

Have no fear. The nuns are the same lovable characters we’ve seen in other shows such as Nunsense, Nuncrackers and Messhuggah-Nuns. They just happened to be played by men, which in itself adds a comic dimension especially to some of their irreverent jokes like: “Dropkick me Jesus through the goalpost of life.” There’s still Sister Mary Amnesia (Scott Maraj) who has trouble remembering anything, including her own identity, since a crucifix fell on her head. She gets some of the best jokes (a few X-rated) because she makes no connection between what she’s saying and what the audience is really hearing thereby adding a comic dimension of pure innocence. And once again Mother Superior (Jeremy Berrick) gets accidentally high on some drugs, making a hilarious scene as the other nuns try to cover for her.

They still have the fundraising bingo game during intermission with a lot of fun prizes, and there’s an abundance of great songs such as Nunsense is Habit-Forming and Tackle That Temptation with a Time Step. Cindy Brillhart-True conducts live music and choreography is by Susan Soriano.
