Today's Quadthot: "Don't think too much. It's unwise."
3:32 AM, Recon 3: BOMB RIPS QSU 16
A powerful bomb, apparently planted by
the Underground,
exploded early this morning inside a Security and Enforcement Station located
in Quad Services Unit 16 on Recon 3. Two Enforcerz were killed and several
others were injured in the blast. According to Security Officials, three
suspects were detained near the scene, then later taken to KorpOps headquarters
in Krania Tower for further interrogation.
"That's it for those bastards . . ."
Zed Bristo, a local Security Specialist remarked in a live interview on
the steps of the stricken QSU . . . Comment: Bristo is probably right.
We all know what happens to people taken to the "Mezzanine." The
problem is nobody knows whether these were the right suspects . . . ti.

8:45 AM, Krania: FOOD SHORTAGES ANNOUNCED
Reported shortages of Q-Hog 4 and 5 meat
simulation packets -- destined for the Outer
Boardz --were attributed to "manufacturing equipment failure"
in Downshaft, according to a statement made by QuadOps Praetor Sonia Gerlitz
from Krania Tower early this morning. Concerned with persistent rumors of
increasing trouble in Downshaft, she added "recent statements made
by critics of the Rammel Directorship that worker rebellions and sabotage
in the packing plantz and Hydroponik Farm Units caused the shortages are
completely unfounded and irresponsible." Comment: Whatever caused
the shortages (and it's probably both equipment and worker problems), why
do the Outer Boardz always get the short end of the stik? . . . ti. Back

11:25 AM, Recon 4: AIRSKIMMER CRASHES, ALL DIE
Late this morning, a QSU 19 Security Enforcement
AirSkimmer went down in
the western sector greenbelt separating Recon 4 and 5. Recon 4 officials
reported a converter malfunction, though others at the scene maintain that
the kraft was apparently flying too low -- in an effort to identify possible
Undergrounders -- to avoid a Node transmitter antenna, and slammed into
the device. All 4 crewmembers were killed instantly. Comment: Maybe there
are less risky ways to quell the Underground . . . perhaps making more resources
available to the starved Outer boardz would dampen the Underground's zeal
for demonstrations in this part of the Q? Just a thought . . . ti. Back

3:30 PM, Krania: 1,000 NEW ENFORCERZ FOR DOWNSHAFT
Focusing on the issue of increasing problems
in Downshaft, newcomer
Axon Kronstadt -- who, it now appears, will be challenging Bruxton Laneer
for the Directorship next month -- stated in an explosive speech at the
Praetorian Klub today, that if he were Director he would double the latest
request from the DESU (Downshaft Enforcement Security Unit) for 500 additional
Enforcerz to 1,000 . . . in order to "clean up the mess in Downshaft."
Minutes later, from his Krania Tower offices, Laneer responded, accusing
Kronstadt of engaging in ". . . dangerous and irresponsible speculation,
and grossly exaggerated, self-serving, scare tactics, with the sole purpose
of trading on fear for political gain." Comment: Hmmmmm . . . if
there was no Downshaft and we were all Enforcerz there would be no problems,
eh? . . . ti. Back To: Headlines
5:00 PM, Recon 5: SHOCKERZ MAKE FINALZ
Recon 5's Shockerz rallied in the third
period, scoring a winning pack to edge past the Recon 3 Muggerz and eliminate
Recon 1's Breakerz in a bloody playoff staged in Bugwort Field in the East
Sector of Recon 5. A Mugger corner irregular was totalled and a Shocker
hind flanker was badly flezzed and taken to QSU 22 Med Center. The Shockerz
and Muggerz will meet the Stranglerz in Knockthorn Field on Recon 4 next
week for the final series of Flezz
games. Comment: With Q-Hog brothers Boriz
and Goriz in their prime, this will be a classic battle . . . ti. Back

7:30 PM, Conzec Board: LENA'S LATEST WOWZ CROWD
Descending (in her skimpy best) from the
ornate circular stairway of "Quadito's" hi-tone vid shop in the
Kolony Mall, Lena Molloy talked about her latest Vee (Virtual
Entertainment) release "Pink Dreemz." As reporterz, friends, and
fanz gathered around, Lena removed her upper garment, revealing to the crowd
part of the genius behind the success of her latest effort. "Virtual
or real, what's the difference," she said, laughing sweetly and kissing
a nearby reporter on the ear (the man fainted and was later revived by a
Quadito clerk). Comment: When I came to, I tried to buy the Vee, but
was told that the transmission circuits for "Pink Dreemz" were
booked for the next 5 weeks . . . ti. Back To: Headlines
